For best results
- The best time for Yoga is in the morning before breakfast.
- Yoga should be practiced in a well ventilated area, free from dust, insects, unpleasant odours, draught, moisture, and distractions.
- Empty your bowels and bladder, clean your nostrils and throat of all mucus, drink a glass of lukewarm water and wait 15 minutes before starting the exercises.
- Begin with easy postures first. All movements should initially be practiced lightly, and should be ended if you start to get tired (Yoga should make you feel energetic rather than tired). Relax for a while if an exercise makes you feel tired.
- Yoga trainers recommended a balanced diet (sattwik), with 4 hour intervals between meals. The required calories should be made of 30% grains and cereals; 20% dairy products; 25% vegetables and roots; 20% fruits and honey; 5% nuts. You should only eat enough to satisfy your appetite.
- Clothing should be loose and allow the maximum amount of skin to be exposed to air.
- Breathing should be long and deep, through the nose only.
